ACCA has elected Mark Gold as president for 2010-11.
Gold, a senior partner at the London offices of Silver Levene - the UK's largest ACCA accountancy practice - first joined the company more than 20 years ago, during which time it has won Accountancy Age awards in the categories of medium-size firm of the year and innovation.
Speaking about his appointment, Gold said: 'I am extremely proud to have become president of ACCA. I am passionate about the ACCA qualification and the way in which it can provide outstanding opportunities for people around the world.
'I am very excited about the opportunities to represent this great organisation in the year ahead.'
Gold has been an ACCA Council member for the past 10 years, and has served as chairman on the Finance, ACCA UK and Creative Industries Committees. He is also vice chairman of the ACCA SME Committee.
In addition to Gold's appointment, Dean Westcott, finance director at NHS West Essex, UK, has been elected deputy president, and Barry J Cooper, professor of accounting at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia, is vice president.
